An articulated lorry loaded with fruit and vegetables crashed off the A75 Gretna to Stranraer Euro-route, east of Dumfries early this morning.
The lorry careered off the road about a mile east of the Collin bypass, and demolished part of a fence and trees, before coming to rest with the tractor unit embedded in the trees.
Passing motorists and emergency services helped the driver from the vehicle.
He was treated at the scene before being taken five miles to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
He is not thought to be seriously injured.
The road remained open but delays are expected later today when attempts will be made to recover the vehicle and its load.
