Thousands expected at Carlisle's festivals

Thousands of people are expected to arrive in Carlisle over the next few days as the city prepares for this years Carlisle Pageant and Carlisle Fringe Festival.

The Carlisle Pageant is the annual celebration of the city's history and heritage.

It will take place at the same time as the Fringe Festival, involving a special community parade through the city at 2pm tomorrow, 19 August 2017.

The newest festival is the Carlisle Fringe Festival and will feature comedy, music, theatre and cabaret.

The festival involves 11 days of both free and ticketed events, bringing together artists from all over the uk to perform in the city.

It consists of more than thirty live events at venues across Carlisle and will last from 18 to 28 August 2017.
