A cyclist suffered serious head injuries after coming off his bike near Windermere last night.
The cyclist, a 48-year-old man from the Windermere area, was cycling near to Bobbin Mill in Finsthwaite when he came off his bike at around 9pm.
No other persons or vehicles are believed to have been involved.
Friends assisted the man at the scene until an ambulance arrived and transferred the cyclist to RLI Lancaster and on to Preston Royal Infirmary.
The cyclist’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
Police closed the road for four hours whilst a collision investigation was commenced.
