Fifty new jobs are being created at a meat processing firm in Dumfries and Galloway.

Brown Brothers, in Kelloholm, has received funding totalling more than £800,000 from the Scottish Government and the EU.

The money will be used to build an extension to its plant in Dumfriesshire, and as well as creating new work, it will safeguard more than 500 current jobs.

We're already a sizeable employer in the local area of Kirkonnel. It's a very community based business, albeit we employ over 550 people. So we'll be able to add an extra 50 new employees to the local area and help the supply chain. So it's great news for Brown Brothers and it's great news for the local area.
