Tim Farron has tabled a motion in Parliament to mark two years to the day since Storm Desmond hit the region.
In a statement released today the South Lakes MP calls on the government to release more floods funding, while praising the resilience of Cumbrian people:
Two years on, it is right that we take time to mark this anniversary of this traumatic event that hit thousands of us here, and to celebrate the strength our community as we pulled through it together.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said by 2021 it will have invested nearly £100million in flood defences in Cumbria since 2010.
“Our thoughts continue to be with those who were affected by floods two years ago.
