A Selkirk toilet attendant who's been cleaning loos in the Scottish Borders for more than 30 years has won best cleaner at the UK Loo of the Year awards.

Douglas Heatlie won Scottish Individual Cleaner of the Year for his continuous efforts in cleaning Avenue public toilets in Lauder.

He was presented with his award at the Scottish Borders Council headquarters today.

The awards encourage the highest possible standards in public toilets and Douglas says this part of his job is very rewarding:

I like to have things really really clean and it's good because you meet people from all walks of life as well.

I get a lot of feedback from the likes of tourists, local people, just saying how clean the toilets are.
