The Scottish Government's Transport Minister has agreed to meet campaigners who are calling for a bypass to be built around Selkirk.

The A7 Action Group says thousands of cars, buses and lorries have to negotiate tight turns in the town, making the streets unsafe for pedestrians.

Humza Yousaf has now agreed to meet with campaigners, who want the major A7 road to be rerouted, to avoid the town centre.

I'm ever hopeful that this will happen - it needs to.

Things go forward year after year, with more traffic and more pedestrians, this needs to happen.

– Marjorie McCreadie, A7 Action Group

However, some businesses have expressed reservations about the possible impact a bypass would have on passing trade in the town.
