Reverend Dr Emma Ineson is to become the next Suffragon Bishop of Penrith.

In her role, she will assist the Bishop of Carlisle, who is the head of the Church of England in Cumbria.

Dr Ineson is replacing the Right Reverend Robert Freeman, who retired in April.

She will be consecrated bishop on 27 February 2019, but will start working with the church in autumn.

I am delighted to have been appointed as the Suffragan Bishop of Penrith. I have been so impressed by what I have seen of the creative and innovative approach to building community and reaching every person across the Diocese with the love of Christ"
