Police are appealing for information after a 53-year-old man was assaulted in Dumfries on Saturday 23 June.

At around 9pm, officers received a report of a disturbance in Castle Street, which involved two men.

The 53-year-old man was struck by a baseball bat.

He was checked over by paramedics at the scene.

The suspect ran from Castle Street towards George Street, with two other unidentified people, before being seen to leave in a silver coloured car.

The suspect is described as having a beard and wearing red shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.

Many people were out socialising in Castle Street and I would ask them to get in touch with us. They may have information which could assist our enquiries and help us establish a motive for this incident. Although, you may think your information is not important, I would you urge to contact us."
