Police in the Scottish Borders are appealing for witnesses after an assault in Jedburgh.

A 27-year-old man was approached by a man who threw an unknown liquid in his face.

It happened just before 7am on Tuesday 17 July on a pathway known as the Waterside Walkway, which runs adjacent to the A68.

The victim was taken to Borders General Hospital as a precaution and was later released.

Inquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.

We know that the liquid was not a corrosive substance, however, inquiries remain ongoing to establish what it contained.
