Lockerbie's three time Olympian David Murdoch has been named British Curling's national coach.

The 40-year-old enjoyed a highly successful curling career guiding Great Britain to a silver medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and won numerous honours representing Scotland.

He turned his attention to full-time coaching last year and his new role will see him guide Britain's next generation of programme curlers towards the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

“I feel very honoured and privileged to be given this fantastic opportunity with British Curling and I hope to use my experience as a former athlete and my coaching experience to further enhance the prospects of teams as the new Olympic cycle gets underway.”
