Police say a crash in Carlisle city Centre on Saturday night was not a deliberate act. Cumbria Constabulary were called to a collision on Botchergate outside the Rambler pub at 7pm on Saturday 15th September. The crash involved a taxi, a black Ford Fiesta and three pedestrians. Injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and police say all parties involved were supported by the emergency services. The force says it is not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

We are aware through social media there's concerns over whether or not this was a terrorist type attack. I can categorically say at this moment in time there is nothing to suggest that. I would like to appeal to the public to remain calm, remain vigilant but don't worry this is not a terrorist related incident, it's a road traffic collision.

Insp Steve Minnikin, Cumbria Constabulary
