The annual Wigtown Book Festival kicks off today and is said to be the biggest yet.

First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon will be in attendance today and is set to reveal texts that have inspired and shaped her.

The children's festival has also been rebranded for the first time since it launched. It will now be known as Big Wig.

A series of events include panel discussions on how Scotland has changed in the past two decade and books that reflect Dumfries and Galloway's heritage.

Our team and volunteers have worked hard to deliver a lot of changes this year. But it's also clear that external support of the events sector, from the Dumfries & Galloway Council and from national funders such as EventScotland and Creative Scotland, has been key in helping us and other events in Dumfries & Galloway to develop."

– Adrian Turnip, Festival artistic director

Wigtown Book Festival will run between 21st-30th September
