A husband who lost his wedding ring has been reunited with the prized possession – four years after it vanished.

Graham Robertson from Crossmichael lost the gold band while at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in 2014 and assumed he would never see it again.

But that was before metal detectorist Eric Soane searched the festival site near Inverness.

Graham, who works at Loreburn Housing Association in Dumfries, said he was delighted to get it back.

“It slipped off my finger and I did look for it at the time but it had fallen into grass that was all trampled down so I couldn’t find it. I filled in a missing item report but I didn’t think I’d see it again. One of my friends, who plays in a band that plays at Belladrum, noticed there was a post on Facebook that someone had found two rings on the site after doing some metal detecting. I provided him with details of the ring size, the hallmark and things like that and once he was satisfied it was my ring he posted it off to me.”

Graham and his wife Michelle married in 2005 and he admits he wasn’t exactly popular following the events of four years ago.

It’s fair to say my wife wasn’t best pleased with me at the time! I hadn’t replaced it as these things are expensive and I’m delighted to get it back.”
