A fundraiser to help pay for the funeral of Peebles mum Amanda Cox has raised £14,000.
The 34-year-old died in a rarely used stairwell at the Royal Infirmary on Monday night, seven hours after being reported missing from a maternity ward.
Family friend John Clarkson set up the page to help Mrs Cox’s husband Michael and their baby boy Murray, who was born two months premature.
By Midday on Saurday more than 500 donors had contributed £12,400 to Mr Clarkson’s appeal, which is being hosted on fundraising site Gofundme.com.
Mr Clarkson initially aimed to raise £2,000, but the appeal was so successful he raised the goal to £6,000.
