Employers in Eden and South Lakeland will find it harder to recruit workers this year, Cumbria Chamber of Commerce has predicted.
They say this is largely due a 'super-ageing population' and are urging employers to diversify in order to bring younger people into the region.
Both Eden and South Lakeland has some of the lowest unemployment rates in the UK.
Rob Johnston, Chief Executive of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, said:
"While the economy isn’t contracting, it’s not growing robustly either. Given the continuing uncertainty around what sort of Brexit we’re going to get, it’s no surprise that firms are reporting weak domestic demand and investment."
