Cumbria Police have charged two people following a report of a robbery outside Barclays bank in Penrith on Wednesday 16th January.

The incident is alleged to have occurred at around 6pm.

Four people aged between 14 and 19 were arrested following the incident.

Paul Stutchfield, 19, of Kirkoswald, has been charged with robbery and an un-named 16-year-old from Penrith has been charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article.

Both are due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The second 16-year-old and the 14-year-old who were also arrested have been released under investigation.

The victim of the robbery was initially reported as having been unhurt.

However, after the incident she attended hospital and was found to have injuries to her leg and body.

Cumbria Police takes any report of an offence involving knives extremely seriously. I would continue to urge anyone who is in the area of Barclays Bank at around 6pm on Wednesday to get I touch. Your information could help with our investigation.”
