The latest plans for a multi million pound hotel and retail complex at Tweedbank will be revealed at a community event later.

Proposals could see the opening of a petrol station, Premier Inn, Costa Coffee, M&S food hall and supermarket.

Last year more than 250 residents attended a meeting to talk about the Borders Gateway, 91% of which supported the plans.

"We have been greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm of local people for our proposals for Tweedbank. Local folk know that Premier Inn is committed to this site as their only option in the Borders, and this, along with Costa, the petrol filling station and food store will create significant local job opportunities, support existing businesses and be a catalyst for further investment in Tweedbank."

"We would encourage the community to come along, to meet with Premier Inn, and to register their support for these job opportunities and additional facilities for the area. Our plans link with the railway and provide visitors and the local community with a high quality development in a logical location."

– Duncan Hamilton of developer New Land Assets

Planning applications for the Gateway were submitted to the Scottish Borders Council in November last year.

The meeting will be held at Tweedbank Community Centre between 3 and 8 o'clock.
