Man dies after falling from a pick-up truck

A 61-year-old man has died after falling from a slow moving pick-up truck in the Scottish Borders.

It happened at around 1:30am on Sunday 17 March on Angraflat Road in Kelso and involved a black Ford Ranger Pick-up.

The man was speaking to the driver before he reportedly fell off the truck as it travelled slowly.

He was taken to the Borders General Hospital where he was treated for a serious head injury. He died later that morning.

The Procurator Fiscal informed the police on Tuesday of the death of the 61-year-old.

The Road Policing Unit are now investigating the incident.

"This has been a tragic loss of a man's life and our condolences are with all those affected. "As with any fatal collision, enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances. We'd urge anyone who may have witnessed this, or who saw either the pedestrian or the vehicle in the area beforehand, to contact us."

Police Scotland ask witnesses to contact 101 with any information that may help with their investigation.
