Two men have been arrested in connection with the robbery of a jewellers in Carlisle.

It's the second time in three months that the St Nicholas Galleries on Bank Street has been targeted.

During the incident, a man who works in the shop was assaulted with what is believed to be a cricket bat.

The two arrested men are in custody.

Police said in the initial report that there was a third person involved in the robbery but they can now confirm there were only two.

We can confirm that following swift actions by officers this afternoon two men are now in custody.
