Region recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours List

Community figures from the region are among those being recognised in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Colin Dorrance from Dumfries and Galloway is set to be awarded an MBE for his fundraising work and service to law and order.

Last year the former policeman was part of a team of men who rode from Lockerbie to the USA in the Cycle for Syracuse.

Anne Barclay is one of the driving forces behind Wigtown Book Festival company and has organised raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK. Anne will be awarded an MBE.

Professor Stephen Eames has been recognised for his time working in the NHS. He has been awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire after 47 years working in the service.

Stephen has over 30 years’ experience as a Chief Executive and has successfully improved services for patients and communities.
