Cumbria police have asked for the public's help in the search for a 91-year-old west Cumbrian man who has been missing for almost a week.

Gerard 'Ged' Doran, who has Alzheimers, was last seen on Thursday 11 July in the Garnet Crescent area at Salterbeck.

Mr Doran was wearing grey trousers, a grey cardigan and a flat cap at the time of his disappearance.

Searches will be carried out in fields in the Workington area from 10am.

Anybody who wants to help look is asked to meet at the site of Workington Fire Station on Moorclose Road.

“We would ask any members of the public who are free to help us in this search.

“Police officers will arrange search parties and we will co-ordinate efforts from there.

“It is important that people who want to help arrive at the correct site at the right time.

“This is so efforts can be co-ordinated properly and the searches done effectively and as quickly as possible.”
