A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after she was struck by a car in Dumfries.

A blue Vauxhall Corsa collided with the 53-year-old pedestrian at around 4pm, on 17 July, at the junction of Munches Street and Lorburn Street.

She was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with a serious head injury, where she remains at this time. The 56-year-old driver was unhurt.

The area where the incident happened was closed for a number of hours while investigations were carried out.

We know from CCTV in the area that there were a number of people in the vicinity at the time of this collision and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to call us on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 2480 17/7."
