Cygnet killed by dog at nature reserve

A young swan has been attacked and killed by a dog on a nature reserve in southern Scotland.

Lockerbie Wildlife Trust, which runs the Eskrigg Reserve, is urging people to keep their pets on leads when walking through the area.

It is an offence to injure, take or kill a wild swan as they are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

Jim Rae from the Lockerbie Wildlife Trust says the incident was case of 'stupidity.'
