Biker killed in south Cumbria crash was off-duty police officer

A motorcyclist killed in a south Cumbrian crash has been named as an off-duty police officer.

27-year-old PC Oli Evans died when his Triumph bike collided with a Peugeot van on the A683 at Middleton near Sedbergh on Monday afternoon.

PC Evans was based in Cumbria Constabulary's mobile support group at Kendal.

Investigations into the collision are continuing and anyone with information is being asked to call the police on 101.

“It is with deep sadness that I learned of the tragic death of PC Oli Evans.

“All our thoughts at Cumbria Constabulary are with Oli’s family and friends at this difficult time and our heartfelt condolences go out to them.

“Oli was a dedicated, professional officer who was well-liked by his colleagues.

“Any death within the police family hits us all hard but will have particular impact on those who knew and worked closely alongside Oli.”
