Temporary classrooms open for Peebles High School students

Ten days after the blaze at Peebles High School, temporary classrooms have been set up for the senior students.

The fire destroyed much of the main school building. A boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

S1-S3 pupils:

These year groups will be taught within Peebles at:

  • Parish Church Hall
  • Drill Hall
  • The Gytes
  • Halyrude Primary School
  • Kingsland Primary School
  • Leckie Church Hall
  • Burgh Hall

S4-S6 pupils:

These pupils will be taught within Galashiels, by Peebles High School staff. Scottish Borders Council will announce finalised arrangements tomorrow.

We are pleased to have been able to get these plans in place quickly given the complexity and scale of this operation and we are now finalising the transport and catering arrangements and will provide more details as soon as we can.

Obviously there will be some disruption to the normal operation of some of these venues, including to groups and individuals that would normally use them, however this is an extremely challenging time and we appreciate the community’s ongoing understanding and support.
