Businesses scramble to protect buildings from rising floodwater

Businesses in Dumfries are this morning coping with the effects of yet another flood along the Whitesands.

Flood warnings were issued by The Scottish Environment Protection Agency after heavy rainfall on Tuesday (10 Dec).

Low-lying roads in the town centre have been closed until further notice.

Late last night sandbags were delivered to help protect buildings from the worst of the flooding.

In August a public inquiry report into a controversial £25m flood protection scheme was completed.
