Storm Ciara: Police say 'no requirement' to evacuate Warwick Road in Carlisle

Officers are working with a number of agencies in Carlisle this evening to minimise the risk of flooding.

Warwick Road is currently closed between Victoria Place and Victoria Road.

Police along with colleagues from the Environment Agency, Cumbria Fire & Rescue and Cumbria County Council are working to ensure that all possible flood prevention measures are in place.

At this time, there is no requirement for residents on Warwick Road or the nearby area to evacuate their homes.

We would like to reassure local residents that everything is being done to minimise the risk of flooding in the area of Warwick Road in Carlisle.

Currently there is standing surface water on the road. Our officers are working with colleagues from other relevant agencies to monitor the river level.

At this time there is no requirement for residents to evacuate their homes. Our officers will continue to be in the area as we review the situation.
