Woman airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after two vehicle crash near Penrith

A woman in her seventies has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a two vehicle crash near Penrith.

The collision between a Citroen DS3 and a Morris 6 CWT Van happened on the A686 between Langwathby and Edenhall at around 10am on Friday 14 February.

The driver of the Morris, a man in his 80s from Penrith, suffered minor injuries and his female passenger, who is also from Penrith, was taken to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary by Air Ambulance.

The driver of the Citroen was uninjured.

Police say the road will remain closed while investigations into the cause of the crash take place with diversions through Edenhall.
