Funerals limited to 12 people to prevent spread of Coronavirus

Funerals in Carlisle may be live streamed to family members who can't attend after new regulations came into force limiting the amount of mourners at services.

Ceremonies are now only open to immediate families, with up to a maximum of 12 people, say Carlisle City Council.

The Prime Minister gave an address to the country on Monday night, announcing strict new measures to curb the spread of Covid-19, ordering people to only leave the house for a few specific reasons.

All new funerals booked may only be attended by immediate family, who must adhere to government guidelines on social distancing.

Garden appointments or burials of cremated remains will not take place for the foreseeable future.

Following advice from the government and ICCM, the Cemetery and Crematorium office in Carlisle is now closed to the public.
