Michael Gove announced on Saturday that production on new ventilators to help the NHS in the fight against COVID-19 will begin in the Scottish borders next week.
The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster said the ventilators will be produced by Plexus and Diamedica at a site in Kelso.
It comes as figures showed a further four people have died in hospitals in Cumbria and North Lancashire from coronavirus.
The latest figures for England and Scotland show 683 patients died in the last 24 hours, including a five-year-old.
There are now 110 confirmed cases in the borders and 127 cases in Dumfries and Galloway.
