Cyclist left with serious injuries after crash near Penrith

A cyclist has been left with serious injuries after a crash involving a car in Penrith, in north Cumbria.

It happened on Monday (1 June) morning, at approximately 8am, on the A686 between Kemplay Bank Roundabout and Penrith RUFC.

A 51-year-old woman, from the town, was riding a bike when she was involved in a collision with a red VW Polo.

The cyclist was taken to Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with serious injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers would like to speak to any witnesses.

They would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
