A quarter of a million pounds worth of cannabis has been seized by police after a car was pulled over in Dumfries and Galloway.
The Toyota Corolla was stopped by officers from Dumfries’ Road Policing Unit on the M74 northbound, at J18 near Lockerbie, at around 11.45am on Tuesday.
Following a search of the vehicle, 25kg of cannabis with an estimated street value of £250,000 was recovered.
Two men, aged 42 and 17, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
A full report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Detective inspector Dean Little, of Dumfries CID, said: “This recovery shows our commitment to disrupting the supply of drugs in our communities.
“We will continue to work to track down those involved in this type of behaviour.
“However, we rely on information from the public to assist us in preventing drugs reaching our streets and any intelligence can help us take action.”
