Almost 150 competitors at Honister

Almost 150 sports cars from the 1920's and 1930's turned out for the annual vintage car rally in the Lake District.

Despite the grim weather, scores of spectators braved the elements to watch the 'Vintage Sports Cars Club' event at Honister Slate Mine.

Competitors faced a tough test as they raced their machines up the side of the 2,100ft Fleetwith Pike, in tricky driving conditions.

Classics like Bentleys, Aston Martins and Triumphs were just some of the cars taking part.

"They're cars built before 1937 and they come to Honister on what's the most challenging route they can do - right to the top of the pike.

"Today we've had 150 which is really a great spectacle for everyone. There's been lots of action all day."
