The People's Millions shortlist has been revealed. Here are the projects that will shortly be competing for your vote.

  • Gretna Community Sport - The project will provide sporting activities for young people in the local area. The group will set up Gretna community youth football teams and will run weekly training sessions sport offered including touch rugby, cricket and tennis.
  • Whapples Orchard - The project will develop the ‘whapples orchard’ into a community space and outdoor learning resource by landscaping the area, constructing accessible paths, creating a seating area and installing a monument.
  • The Heathlands City Project - The project will deliver a programme of training support and activities for adults who have a disability or acquired brain injury. The group will also offer training and activities to support people into employment.
  • Windermere RePlay - The project will involve the design and development of a children's playground on the shores ofLake Windermere for all ages and abilities which will form part of restoring a historic wooded lake shore area. The playground will use natural materials and be designed through community consultation.
  • Breaking Sound Barriers - The project will widen opportunities in music making for all, across every age and ability, by providing accessible music instruments. The group will work with Drake Music Scotland who will provide training in the new equipment . New local music groups will be formed for people to create music on an inclusive basis, regardless of age or disability.
  • Duns Community Theatre - The project will create a community theatre and cinema space in the local Volunteer Hall. The group hope to run a programme of performances, events, films and live streaming of national performances for all the community to enjoy.

The People’s Millions is a long-running collaboration between ITV and the Big Lottery Fund. We want to help projects that capture the public’s imagination, inspire local people to get involved and make a lasting difference to those in their area through improvements to the neighbourhood.

On 24th November voting will begin in the ITV Border region. For three nights you will have the chance have your say on who wins up to £50,000 of National Lottery money. The Big Lottery Fund will also consider a grant of up to £50,000 for the runner up in the x region with the largest number of votes.
