Famous writers, performers and plenty of books will be in the Scottish Borders this weekend, as the Borders Book Festival gets underway.

It's the festival's 12th year, and it begins today, and continues through Friday and over the weekend.

The festival's biggest ever programme includes talks from Peter Snow, Andrew Marr, Patricia Hodge, Jenny Colgan and Rory Bremner.

Political figures like Alex Salmond and Gordon Brown will also be there.

This year's the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, and Lewis Carroll's classic novel will be celebrated with treasure hunts, and costumed characters meeting children.

The festival is taking place at Harmony Gardens in Melrose.
