Cumbria Police have identified the body found in Upperby Cemetery in Carlisle as that of Jordan Watson, 14, from Carlisle.

Local church's tribute to murdered schoolboy

A local church is paying tribute to murdered schoolboy Jordan Watson.

St Herbert's Church, on Blackwell road, has invited members of the public to visit between 4.30pm and 6pm.

The church says the session will offer a chance to "be still, say a prayer or light a candle" in memory of the fourteen-year-old.

The thoughts and prayers of all of us at St Herbert's are with the family and friends of 14 yr old Jordan Watson who was killed in Carlisle yesterday.

Fourteen-year-old Jordan Watson was found dead at Upperby Cemetery in Carlisle, Cumbria, after what police described as a "savage and brutal" attack.

Family friend Darren Robison told ITV Border he had known Jordan since he was a baby.

"I'm devastated. I've hardly slept a wink all night thinking about him."

Schoolboy, 14, identified in Carlisle murder investigation

Carlisle schoolboy Jordan Watson, 14, was found dead at Upperby Cemetery after what police have described as a 'savage and brutal' attack.

A post mortem examination has identified the cause of death as multiple wounds to the head and neck made with a sharp instrument.

“Jordan has lost his life as a result of a savage and brutal attack which has shocked the officers working on the case.

"For a child to die in these circumstances in Carlisle is appalling. The offender or offenders must be apprehended and I appeal to any members of the public with information to come forward.

"If anybody heard or saw anything unusual in the area of the cemetery on Manor Road overnight, I would urge them to report it to our incident room.”

Cumbria Police have increased patrols across Carlisle as the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to an officer from North Cumbria CID.

Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of man in Carlisle.

Officers were called to a cemetery on Manor Road at 7.46am this morning with a report of a man's body found by a member of the public.

Police say he appears to have been the victim of a violent attack.

They are currently working on identifying the body and tracing the next of kin.

Police are investigating the death of a man who was found at the cemetery on Manor Road in Carlisle today.

They were called to the scene at 7.46am with a report of a body found by a member of public.

The death is being treated as suspicious and the cemetery has been closed while police carry out their enquiries.

Officers remain at the scene with police dogs and a white tent has been put up.
