Police name pensioner killed after car hit tree on A7

An 87-year-old man who died in crash on the A7 has been named by police as Gerald Kelly, known as Gerry, from Edinburgh.

My Kelly's car left the road and hit a tree near Teviothead on Sunday 29 April. He was was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inquiries are ongoing and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Motorcyclist dies following A7 collision

A motorcyclist has died following a collision on the A7 in the Scottish Borders.

The 55-year-old biker from Edinburgh suffered fatal injuries when his bike left the road between Selkirk and Galashiels on Tuesday 20 March.

He was taken to Borders General Hospital and later transferred to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he died this morning, Thursday 22 March.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101.

Two hospitalised after A7 crash

Two people have been hospitalised after a crash on the A7 at Ashkirk, between Hawick and Selkirk.

It happened at around 5:45pm on Monday 9 November, and police are now appealing for witnesses to come forwards.

An MG ZR travelling south was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa, which was also travelling south.

The male driver and a female passenger of the Corsa sustained leg and head injuries and were taken to the Border General Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for around two hours while officers carried out an investigation at the scene and police are now asking anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come forward:

As part of our ongoing investigation to determine the full circumstances that resulted in this collision we are keen to hear from other motorists who were on the road at the time and may have witnessed the incident take place.
