A man charged with attempted murder following an assault in Kendal has appeared in court.
Luke Canning, aged 21, of Bridge Street, Burneside, appeared at Barrow Magistrates’ Court today.
Canning, also charged with possession of an offensive weapon, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 15 April.
The charges relate to an assault that happened in the early hours of Saturday 30 March on a footpath at Waterside in Kendal.
The victim of the assault, a 33-year-old Kendal man, remains in a critical condition.
An 80-year-old man's appeared in court charged with attempted murder after being arrested at his home in Kirkby Lonsdale on Thursday.
Officers were called to an address in New Road following an alleged assault at the house.
A woman in her 70s suffered serious injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital by air ambulance.
She remains in hospital where her condition is described as critical.
Peter Horbury was arrested at the scene and appeared at Barrow Magistrates Court this morning charged with her attempted murder.
He's due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 13 November 2017.
A man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Workington.
It happened inside a house in Derwent Street in Workington. A 44-year-old man was taken to hospital with wounds to his head and body. He has since been released.
The Police say they have charged 37-year-old James Hawman with attempted murder. He is due to appear before magistrates in Workington.
Police were called at approximately 00:25am this morning, Tuesday 8 August, to the report of a serious assault involving two males, on Senhouse Street, Maryport.
A 34-year-old man received stab wounds and was taken to Carlisle Infirmary where he remains in a critical condition. Police and other emergency services attended the scene and the area remains cordoned off whilst enquiries continue.

Two men have appearedin court at Dumfries on charges of attempted murder and robbery following anincident in which a man was assaulted in his own home in the town.
25-year-old George Collins and Stuart McNeillie, 30, both from Dumfries, appeared separately in private before Sheriff Alison Stirling.They were on a petition containing the charges and no plea or declaration was made.
Both were remanded in custody for further examination.
Their appearance comes four days after a man was assaulted in a house in Dalswinton Avenue in the Lochside housing estate.
