A set of illustrated children's books have just been published twenty years after they were first written.
The adventures of the Odd Soks, strange creatures who live deep in the Lakeland Woods, were the result of artist Steve Critchley's family trips to the Lakes.
But it was the recession in the advertising industry that finally prompted his decision to publish.
Andy Burn reports:
A set of illustrated children's books featuring the Lake District, which were first written 20 years ago, have finally made it to print.
The Odd Soks series of Lakeland adventures born out of artist Steve Critchley's childhood visits to the Lakes.
Friend and fellow artist Rob Jones helped out with the illustrations which survived 20 years of storage and a fire in Steve's garage.
When the pair were made redundant from their advertising agency they decided to try and publish the books.
They are now available at numerous Cumbrian bookshops.
