One lane has re-opened on the M6 following a crane fire on the M6 Northbound between J36 A590 (Kirkby Lonsdale) and J37 A684 (Kendal).
Traffic is reported to be coping well.
The M6 Southbound carriageway is now open following a crane fire on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway.
The M6 Northbound at J36 is still closed, but traffic is being cleared by one lane. Junctions 37 to 39 Northbound are now open.
The M6 Northbound carriageway at J36 is expected to be kept closed for several hours for recovery work. Diversions are in place.
Emergency services are dealing with a crane fire on the M6. The road was closed both directions between J36 and 39 for a number of hours.
Police were called at 7.39am following reports of a crane on fire on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway between J36 and 37.
Recovery work is underway on the M6 Northbound carriageway at J36 and one lane is still closed. Diversions are in place.
There are no reports of any injuries.
