Lake District boss receives university honour

Richard Leafe, chief executive of the Lake District National Park, has received a Doctor of Letters honorary degree from the University of Sheffield in recognition of his achievements in geography.

I am delighted and proud to be recognised by Sheffield University for my contribution to geography. I look forward to developing future links with the university and hope to pass on my experience and inspire those who are starting out in this field."

M-Sport boss to receive Honorary Fellowship

The managing director of Cumbrian based motorsport firm M-Sport is to receive an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Cumbria.

Former British Rally Champion Malcolm Wilson is to receive his fellowship for his "outstanding contribution" to the industry.

M-Sport run their rally company from their Dovenby Hall complex in Cockermouth, and are one of west Cumbria's largest employers.
