Cyclist killed in A6 collision named by police

A cyclist who died following a collision on the A6 in Milnthorpe has been formally identified as Joseph Eric Park, of the village.

The 74-year-old, known as Eric, was cycling along the A6 on Wednesday 7 March when he collided with a black Audi A3.

The driver of the Audi, a Kendal man in his 20s, was uninjured.

Police say Eric's family are being supported by a specially trained officer.

Anyone witnesses are asked to contact PC 2373 Steve Mossop on 101.


Teenager missing from Milnthorpe residential school

Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a 16-year old girl who is missing.

Emily Thompson, who is a boarder at the Wings School in Milnthorpe, didn't return from a school trip to Lancaster with on 21st June.

Emily is described as white, 5ft 6", of slim build, with long, dark brown hair in a ponytail and speaks with a North East accent. She was last seen wearing a light blue hooded top and dark-coloured jeans.

A second girl was missing but has now returned to the school.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kendal Police on 101 or Crimestoppers Anonymously.

Man charged with attempted rape

A 33-year-old man has been charged with the attempted rape of a woman in Milnthorpe.

Nathan Taylor, from Lancaster, is appearing before Kendal Magistrates court later today.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday (5 August) outside the Bulls Head on Beetham Road.

“Public co-operation in this incident has been excellent and has been a massive help in assisting with our investigations.

"We appreciate any help that members of the public can offer and it helps us in our efforts to make sure people feel safe in our county."

Local man arrested after sexual assault

A 33-year-old man has been arrested following a sexual assault in Milnthorpe.

It follows an attack on a woman aged in her twenties in the early hours of this morning outside the Bulls Head Hotel on Beetham Road.

Police have thanked the public for their co-operation and are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident - or who has any information about the assault - to come forward.
