A new welcome sign at Penrith North Lakes railway station is set to greet visitors arriving by train over summer.
The new “Welcome to Penrith” sign is being unveiled at the station on Tuesday 25 July at 11.00 am and is hoped to encourage more people to explore what the town has to offer.
The sign comes as a result of a joint plan between Virgin Trains and Eden District Council’s tourism team.
A new snack bar and toilet facilities has been opened to the public at Tweedbank station.
Operated by local firm, Born in the Borders, the council says there will be a formal opening of the snack bar soon.
Local MSP, Christine Grahame says she is "delighted to see so much interest in the facilities already".
