Thousands run in gruelling Innerleithen race

More than 3,000 people battled the Tweed Valley at weekend in the “The Mighty Deerstalker” event.

Run by Rat Race, an adventure sports company, it's toughest off road run in the UK.

The event, which is now in it's 8th year, starts and finishes at the historic Traquair House, Innerleithen.

It features a mixture of steep ascents, water crossings, forest trails and various natural and man-made obstacles including “The Rack”, “The Scree” and “The Tunnel”.

People can chose to take part either as an individual or as a team. They can then choose between the 5K Deerstalker or the 10K Mighty Deerstalker course.

“The Mighty Deerstalker is one of our toughest events as competitors not only have to deal with a gruelling course, but they must do so in complete darkness. There was also a fantastic atmosphere on the run as competitors were dressed in tartan and tweed”.
