Borders MP welcomes rally safety review

Scottish Borders MP Michael Moore has welcomed the creation of a new expert safety group following the deaths of three spectators on the Jim Clark rally.

The safety panel will examine safety at all motorsport events and Sir Jackie Stewart will provide expert advice.

" I am a huge fan of motorsport and I have always enjoyed watching the Jim Clark Rally. The tragic deaths of three people at the event this year has hit our community incredibly hard and I am sure everyone will welcome this review which must ensure that this tragedy is never again repeated.

“I am glad to hear that Sir Jackie Stewart will be involved in the review as he will bring his expertise to the table. It is vital that the review pinpoints areas where the Rally’s safety can be improved so that this long-held Borders tradition can continue for all to enjoy. "
