15-year-old cyclist dies in collision at Santon Bridge near Gosforth

A 15-year-old boy has died after his bicycle was involved in a crash with a van in west Cumbria. The collision happened at Santon Bridge near Gosforth at around 11.30 am on Saturday 23rd August. The teenager suffered serious head, neck and spinal injuries and was treated at the scene before being flown to hospital in Newcastle by Air Ambulance where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
