Cumbria Police have released the name of a 15-year-old boy killed in a collision in west Cumbria. Jake Knott, who was on holiday from his home in East Bergholt in Essex, died following the crash involving his bike and a van in Santon Bridge in west Cumbria.
Cumbria Police are investigating what happened but say it appears to be a tragic accident. Sergeant Paul Brown told ITV Border "Jake was out cycling with his father and was in the process of negotiating a steep downhill section of the road and as he's rounded the bend it appears he's lost control of his bike and come into contact with a van travelling in the opposite direction."
The teenager was treated at the scene after suffering serious head, neck and back injuries and flown to hospital in Newcastle, where he was later pronounced dead.
