The first tracks will be installed for the new Borders Railway today. The laying of the tracks marks the final phase of work on the longest domestic rail track to be built in the UK for more than 100 years.

Work has begun to install almost 30 miles of rail on the Borders Railway as track-laying begins.

Transport Minister Keith Brown and Mark Carne, Chief Executive of Network Rail, visited the site this morning.
