The first tracks will be installed for the new Borders Railway today.
They'll be put down at Shawfair Station in Edinburgh, and the railway is expected to bring benefits to the south of Scotland.
The laying of the tracks marks the final phase of work on the longest domestic rail track to be built in the UK for more than 100 years.
By the end of the year almost 30 miles of track will have been installed.
